The Three Pillars
Leadership. Process. Communication.
Leading teams, driving goals, and executing at a high level, for me, it all comes down to these three things. And it comes up in my posts regularly. Of course, every situation is different. Every team has its own rhythm. But these pillars hold everything up.
Leadership
π― Lead from where you are.
π― Lead within your sphere of influence.
π― Lead with empathy.
π― Lead with understanding.
π― Lead with a relatable vision.
π― Lead with solutions, not complaints.
π― Lead by being a good listener, first.
π― Lead knowing not everyone is in the same place.
π― Lead knowing not everyone is ready to hear.
Process
π― Process only works if itβs grounded in reality.
π― Process only works if it makes things easier, faster.
π― Process only works when people buy in.
π― Process only works when itβs supported from the top down.
π― Process gives everyone a clear sense of where they are.
π― Process gives people more freedom to do great work.
π― Process helps teams focus, align, and execute.
π― Process helps teams celebrate progress.
Communication
π― Communication only works when it goes both ways.
π― Communication only works when the intent is positive.
π― Communication only works when delivered with empathy.
π― Communication only works when the message is clear.
π― Communication only works when itβs safe with no fear of retaliation.
π― Communication only works when itβs consistent.
π― Communication only works when thereβs a point.
Without each of these pillars, youβll always have cracks in your foundation. But when theyβre strong, almost anything can be built on top of them.
